Working environment
People
The working environment describes the surrounding conditions in which our employees operate. In the past years, we have been working on optimising the physical conditions, such as the office environment.
Our teams in Donegal, Ireland and Nantes, France have moved to new and improved offices and in the Netherlands, we have started the construction of a brand new sustainable head office and warehouse, designed to contribute to the well-being of people and environment. A healthy and safe working environment and employee satisfaction are also related to social interactions at the workplace and
an environment free of harassment and uncertainties.
So in 2018, we replaced our annual satisfaction survey with our Flow Manager programme, based on the so-called Flame, Flow and Flood theory. This programme allows us to measure employee enthusiasm on a variety of topics that contribute to employee enthusiasm three times a year and fosters dialogue on important topics in all layers of the organisation, such as having fun in your work, receiving sufficient feedback, having a common goal and creating a pleasant and safe working environment for everyone.

Community development
People
In January 2017, LC Packaging founded the LC Supports Foundation to contribute to the improvement of the environment and well-being of communities in which our company operates and contribute to the SDGs set by the UN. With the help of local partners we have set up wonderful projects. In an attempt to raise extra budget for our projects and create awareness, we launched the so-called Greenheart campaign during the 2018/2019 holidays.
2019
This customer campaign was brought to the attention of over 300 customers in various countries. They were asked to choose the project closest to their heart and instead of giving a Christmas present to these customers, LC Packaging donated an amount of money to the projects of their choice, raising an additional €4,000 euros.

Job quality
2022
By 2022, we will have created at least 300 additional high quality full-time jobs in developing countries.
2019
As an employer with offices, warehouses and production facilities in 16 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe we are actively contributing to SDG number 8: Decent work and economic growth. In 2018 we expanded the LC family by 25% compared to 2017 to 1,540 employees (1 January 2019). This growth was largely achieved due to the expansion of our production activities in our SA 8000 certified production facilities in Bangladesh and in South Africa. Compared to 2016, we now have created over 500 additional high quality full-time jobs in developing countries. This year we are planning to expand our workforce in Bangladesh with another 200 colleagues, while also adding more secondary benefits that add value to the lives of our employees and their families, such as free day care for young children on our site.
Employee development
By 2022, 80% of our employees will be satisfied with the internal development opportunities provided by LC Packaging.
2022
In 2016, 65.3% of our colleagues said that they were satisfied with the internal development opportunities provided by LC Packaging. In 2019, 70% says there are enough opportunities to develop within the company: a modest but significant increase. Compared to 2016, we have invested a lot in providing (external) training sessions and courses. We have put the 'development' topic firmly on the agenda during annual appraisal interviews, launched an online training tool/ knowledge database accessible for all our employees, given colleagues priority over external applicants when it comes to filling new vacancies, and all the teams within the company start a dialogue on this topic annually during so-called flow sessions, as part of our employee enthusiasm programme: Flow Manager. We do see a lot of opportunities to succeed in nurturing our talent and creating suitable opportunities, as 89% of our colleagues say there is still enough to learn at LC Packaging.
