Did you know deforestation is responsible for 17% of CO2 emissions? Therefore, as a solution, LC Packaging advocates planting more trees to address this global climate change issue. Via the LC Supports Foundation, LC Packaging supports a tree-planting project in Dassa, Burkina Faso, to compensate our CO2 emissions. In 2017 we donated 1,752 trees, compensating 371.46 t CO2.
CO2 compensation project
Next to our corporate environmental footprint research, in 2017 we conducted CO2 footprint research of our FIBCs. The aim was to measure the difference between a single use FIBC bag and an FIBC that is reconditioned and reused with the help of our WorldBag reconditioning service.
Turns out, reconditioning FIBCs leads to a reduction of 43% to 66% in carbon footprint, depending on the number of reuse cycles. In the coming years we will focus more on marketing this sustainable solution.

Environmental footprint research
With the help of Except Integrated Sustainability, in 2017 we conducted comprehensive corporate environmental footprint research of our CO2 emissions, waste generation and water and energy use. Based on the outcomes we have finalised environmental targets for 2022.
