Looking back

It also shows how much we have done and learned. After five years of deep-diving, we look towards the future with confidence. Our goals for 2030 are more ambitious and more relevant than most in our industry. We have the same enthusiasm and drive as we did five years ago, and we are definitely better equipped and prepared.
I hope this report inspires you on your journey towards a sustainable business model.

Fourteen themes to focus on is also too much for a company our size, which is why some goals got more attention than others, resulting in goals that have been achieved with flying colours, and others unfortunately were not. As LC Packaging’s sustainability manager that is something I regret.
We can honestly say that now – after five years of trying and exploring - we know what sustainability can bring us and what value we can add to society. We truly believe that one day soon ‘sustainability’ is just as important and self-evident as ‘quality’ and ‘price’. Our core business must become sustainable, and therefore our mission is not just to be a leader in sustainability, but a leader in sustainable packaging.
This report is about looking back on what we have achieved in the past five years and whether our efforts were enough to achieve our goals.
Back in 2017, we started our sustainability journey. We decided that we wanted to understand what sustainability actually entails, if it would fit our business, what it could bring us, and how much impact we could actually make. We launched our 2022 Vision, our very first strategy, including fourteen 5-year goals and we have learned along the way, full of passion and enthusiasm.
I look back with pride, because we have done and achieved so incredibly much. We have even been awarded an EcoVadis Platinum medal for the second year in row and we are considered a leader in sustainability in our industry. Yet, one should always keep a critical eye. With the knowledge and experience we have today, there are things that we would have done differently. Today, some of our fourteen goals feel a bit random or are defined in such a way that it is difficult to measure whether they are achieved or not.
