the CEO
Dear reader,
I am happy to introduce to you a new and improved format for our annual Sustainability Update. 2022 was an exciting and eventful year, as it was the year in which we introduced our new sustainability strategy: Our 2030 Ambition.
We have raised our ambitions and decided to embed sustainability into our core business and embrace our purpose: Contribute to a world without waste. As a manufacturer and distributor of flexible transport packaging, we protect valuable goods from going to waste during transportation and storage, safeguarding their economic, environmental and social investment. And we design our packaging in such a way as to eliminate packaging waste and other negative environmental and social impacts related to our packaging.
By obtaining our EcoVadis Platinum CSR rating for a third consecutive year, we have proved to be a leader in sustainability in our industry. The next step is to become a leader in sustainable packaging, and in order to achieve that we have set ourselves very ambitious goals to be achieved by 2030.
We are very aware that we can only achieve these goals if we pull out all the stops. We have ensured a 100% leadership commitment, and we are investing financially, in time and in human resources. We have appointed Lotte Mastwijk as Head of Sustainability. She is supported by a dedicated team, including our Circular Economy Manager, Innovation Manager, and Data and Reporting Analyst. Knowledge is power.
The responsibility for achieving our goals does not solely lie there: everyone at LC Packaging is expected to contribute to achieving our goals. To that end, over the past year we have made every effort to make our ambition tangible.
In this Sustainability Update 2023, we look back on the first year in our journey to become a leader in sustainable packaging: the policies and targets we set, and the actions we took, and as always, we present to you a transparent and honest overview of our results.
