Sustainability Update
Our quest
towards sustainable
In our sustainable business strategy, LC Packaging has identified four areas of commitment. We believe that by integrating these areas into our daily business, we will improve our environmental, economic and social impact, while making profit along the way.
Areas of commitment
While at the start of our company almost 100 years ago, natural products and reconditioning were the norm, we now feel the necessity to further formalise our policies and strategies, to create a solid foundation for the next 100 years.
We want to successfully pass on the company to the next generation without limiting the choices they have to make or the recourses available. Looking forward, we created a 5-year sustainability plan, our Sustainability Vision 2022. With this third issue of our annual digital Sustainability Update, I am proud to share the exciting initiatives and developments deployed by LC Packaging to improve the well-being of people, create supply chain sustainability, develop sustainable packaging solutions and minimise the impact on the environment.
This will also be the first issue in which we venture into the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This means we are not only sharing our updates and developments, but also reporting extensively on our impact. 2019 was a great year to be on the road to sustainability. I am so proud to share with you that we now have officially become a ‘leader in sustainability’, ranked with an EcoVadis Platinum CSR Rating. We established several sustainable partnerships with which we aim to create circular packaging solutions throughout the supply chain. We launched an online learning platform, offering our colleagues all types of training related to their job and personal development. And we expanded our social programme in Bangladesh with free childcare and healthcare facilities. This so-called Employee Commitment Programme has been shortlisted by Sedex for the Responsible Business Awards that will be awarded by the end of this year.
That being said, we realise the road to a sustainable future is never ending. This means that we can, and we will take more steps to have a more positive impact on people and the environment. Now and in the future.
It is with pride and excitement that I present to you our Sustainability Update 2020. Please enjoy.
